Turning collective memory into a living digital experience
At Studio Initiative, we design digital products that resonate on a human level — products that blend emotional design, rapid prototyping, and product strategy.
Rememoria is one of our most meaningful experiments: an AI-powered app that helps families preserve and relive the memories of loved ones together.
It’s not just a product. It’s a living story — and a demonstration of how emotion, product thinking, and AI can converge to create something deeply human.
The concept — Collective remembrance, reimagined
When someone passes away, their memories become scattered across conversations, photos, and emotions.
Rememoria aims to bring these fragments together, allowing families and friends to build a shared portrait of the person they’ve lost.
Within a private space, users can:
- Upload texts, photos, voice notes, or videos,
- Share personal stories and anecdotes,
- Tag themes and emotions (love, childhood, humor, spirituality…),
- And collaborate in creating an AI-generated life story based on all the contributions.
Rememoria turns remembrance into an interactive, collective, and lasting experience.
Product approach — Designing for emotion
Instead of a traditional product roadmap, Rememoria was built using an experimental method we call vibe coding.
What is vibe coding?
It’s a creative approach to development that prioritizes emotional alignment over rigid technical planning.
Rather than asking “how do we build this?”, we ask:
“How should this feel?”
Every design and code decision stems from the emotional “vibe” of the experience we want to evoke — serenity, nostalgia, tenderness.
Tools & stack
We built Rememoria on Firebase Studio, which enabled us to:
- Prototype and iterate rapidly without heavy infrastructure,
- Design emotional UX flows directly in a visual environment,
- Test user reactions in real time and refine based on qualitative feedback.
This process keeps the technical layer invisible, allowing us to focus entirely on the emotional and narrative experience.
The role of AI — Reconstructing memories through meaning
Rememoria uses multiple AI components designed to interpret and connect human memories:
- Semantic analysis to understand emotions, topics, and relationships between stories,
- Narrative synthesis to generate a cohesive and sensitive life portrait,
- (In development) Audio and visual rendering, allowing users to “listen to” or “revisit” a symbolic version of the loved one.
The AI doesn’t imitate a person — it reconstructs the essence of their presence through the voices of those who remember them.
Research & inspiration
Before writing a single line of code, we conducted deep research across several disciplines:
- Psychology of memory and grief, to understand how people recall and share memories,
- Philosophy of time and identity (Ricoeur, Bergson, Augustine),
- Collective storytelling models, and how narratives emerge from shared contributions,
- AI narrative generation and NLP, to analyze emotional text patterns and synthesize coherent life stories.
This groundwork shaped both the user experience and the ethical foundation of the product.
Key features
- Multi-format memory collection (text, audio, photo, video)
- Automatic emotion and theme detection
- Private, collaborative spaces for families or friends
- AI-generated life portrait built from collective memories
- Immersive playback with narration and ambient sound
- Interactive timeline mapping the key moments of a life
The result — A proof of our product philosophy
Rememoria is more than a passion project.
It’s a manifesto for how we approach product creation at Studio Initiative:
- Start with human emotion, not features.
- Use technology to amplify meaning, not replace it.
- Prototype quickly and emotionally with tools like Firebase Studio.
- Let product strategy and storytelling evolve together.
Rememoria shows that when you design for emotion first, the technology naturally follows.
At Studio Initiative, we believe the next generation of digital products won’t just solve problems — they’ll carry meaning.
Rememoria is our proof of that vision.
